Travel Agreements

All guests traveling with Tauck will have to sign two important agreements on the first day of their land tour or cruise. By signing the Travel Well Pledge, you assume personal responsibility for your own health, to help protect the well-being of fellow travelers, the Tauck staff, our supplier partners and the places we visit. By signing the Waiver of Liability, you assume all risks in the unlikely event you are exposed to, or infected by, COVID-19. Hard copies of these documents will be provided for your signature by your Tauck Director.

Please note that your Tauck Director will provide copies of these documents for your signature on the first day of your trip. Preview these agreements below:

Waiver of Liability for COVID-19

The safety and comfort of our guests has always been of paramount concern to Tauck. We have worked diligently to give you the peace of mind you expect.  However, there is no way to eliminate all possible risks while traveling and Tauck therefore cannot assume liability in the unlikely event you contract COVID-19.  This is the reason for the necessity of the following waiver of liability:

The novel coronavirus, Covid-19, (herein “COVID-19) has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state and local governments have recommended physical distancing, limiting group sizes in some locations and wearing face coverings.

Tauck, Inc. (“Tauck”) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, Tauck cannot guarantee that you or your travel party will not become infected with Covid-19. In fact, traveling on a Tauck trip and participating in its activities could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19.

By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by participating in the Tauck trip and that such infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming infected by COVID-19 on a Tauck trip may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to Tauck employees, suppliers (and their employees) and other passengers. I understand that complete knowledge of the risk factors of contracting COVID-19 is not complete and that unknown or unanticipated risks may result in injury, illness, death or any other loss. I agree that having considered these risks, I desire to participate in the tour and I freely and voluntarily assume complete personal responsibility for the risk of exposure, illness and death due to COVID-19, even if such injuries or death occur in a manner that is not foreseeable at the time this agreement is signed.

I for myself, and on behalf of my and their heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability or expense of any kind that I may experience or incur in connection with my Tauck trip and its activities (“Claims”). I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge and hold harmless Tauck, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims. Including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or related thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of Tauck, its employees, agents and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Tauck trip.

I HAVE READ THIS WAIVER OF LIABILITY, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT.

I agree that if any portion is found to be void or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. No additions, deletions or changes can be made to the release form, and signing it is a requirement for joining the trip.

COVID-19 Entry Requirements

Destinations around the world have instituted new measures like testing requirements, health insurance coverage, or specific restrictions on travel. The below link provides entry and travel requirements for specific tours and cruises currently operating in 2021. Please read carefully as these guidelines are in addition to Tauck’s requirements. As additional regions open to travel, we will be adding trips to this page.

COVID-19 Travel FAQs

Planning Your Trip

Has Tauck started operating again?

Yes, we resumed operations in January with our Yellowstone in Winter tour and the feedback was excellent. We then restarted New Orleans & Mississippi River Country; and in May, two longtime East Coast favorites will start back up: Bluegrass & Blue Ridges: Louisville to Nashville, and In Freedom's Footsteps: Philadelphia to Washington, DC. We recently announced that by July all of our USA tours will be running. To start planning, visit our new Open For Travel page for the most up-to-date listing of trips in 2021.

At this point, countries in Europe and elsewhere have not created a solid timeline for reopening borders. We need to balance our desire to safely operate as many tours as possible with the constantly changing country, state, airline and partner COVID regulations. In some cases, entry requirements change from week-to-week.

To check the status of our tours and cruises by destination, visit our Travel Updates Page. This page is updated frequently.

Will Tauck be operating my tour or cruise? How will that decision be made? And when will I find out?

If you are scheduled to travel with us on a cancelled journey, and we haven’t already reached out to you, Tauck or your travel advisor will contact you to discuss your options. Please do not call Tauck at this time. We will be reaching out to guests in chronological order, beginning with those guests scheduled to travel soonest, and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding. Please know that when the conditions allow, we are primed and ready to operate.

Our decision to operate each tour or cruise is complicated, involving hundreds of suppliers along with carefully monitoring government entry requirements and guidelines around the globe. Our team meets on a daily basis to review all factors to determine if:  1) entry requirements enable us to operate, 2) we can provide a Tauck quality experience, and 3) we can do so safely.

Please check our Travel and Health pages often for the latest information.

If my tour does operate, what will the travel requirements and health protocols be?

As entry requirements and COVID-19 protocols can change week-to-week, it is not possible for Tauck to know with certainty what the status will be for a given location beyond a few weeks out. We are monitoring the situation closely for all locations, and will post information on our COVID-19 Entry Requirements page as soon as we receive it.

How will the rollout of the vaccines affect 2021 Tauck departures?

The accelerating distribution of vaccines is encouraging and will help reopen travel in the weeks and months to come. We are working diligently with our partners to make traveling as safe as possible, even if the vaccines are not fully distributed.

We understand that the decision to travel will be a personal one and involve many factors. Our goal is to be ready to provide you with a safe and memorable Tauck experience when government guidelines and health experts give the green light and the time is right for you.

Do guests booking a 2022 tour or cruise still have to sign Tauck’s Travel Well Pledge and Waiver of Liability for COVID-19, and either be vaccinated or take a COVID-19 test, prior to departure?

2022 tours and cruises are still a long way away and, as we all know, a lot can change in a year or so. Currently, our policies apply to all future bookings until conditions allow us to change them.

Requirements for Covid Testing or Vaccination

Do all Tauck guests need to be tested for COVID-19?

Consistent with recently updated CDC guidelines, all Tauck guests must be fully vaccinated or have received a negative PCR COVID-19 test within five days of departure for their journey. For example, the CDC considers you “fully vaccinated” two weeks after a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Testing and other requirements may vary by destination and could go beyond Tauck’s requirements. Please see Question 5 below.

Do children under age 16 need to be tested?

Regardless of age, any guest not fully vaccinated must still have a negative PCR test within five days of departing for their journey.

What COVID-19 test do I need to take?

You need to take a PCR test (also known as a Molecular or NAAT test). This type of test will detect an active COVID-19 infection. A PCR test is a very accurate and common diagnostic test for COVID-19. Tauck currently does not accept Antigen and Antibody tests as alternatives to the more accurate PCR Molecular test.

For those who are not fully vaccinated, does Tauck require a negative PCR COVID-19 test 5 days prior to flight departure date, pre-stay date, or tour start date?

For those who are not fully vaccinated, Tauck’s policy is that a negative PCR COVID-19 Test is required 5 days prior to departing from home for a Tauck trip. If you are pre-staying, you should be tested in the 5 days prior to departing from your home. If you are taking back-to-back Tauck trips, your Tauck Director will help arrange a test before you start your second trip.

Note, the CDC considers you “fully vaccinated” two weeks after a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Do guests need to bring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test?

Although all Tauck guests must pledge that they have been either fully vaccinated or have received a negative COVID-19 PCR test, Tauck currently does not require proof of vaccination or of a negative test. However, it's possible that suppliers or government entities may require proof - maybe without notice - so we highly recommend that you bring proof of vaccination, such as your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card for USA residents, or proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, just in case it is requested during your travels.

Are there other testing requirements that I need to be aware of?

Testing and other requirements vary by destinations, and across airlines, and this can impact requirements on a tour-by-tour basis. Please check with your airline(s) and destinations(s) to confirm their requirements, which may be different than Tauck’s Tour-specific travel and entry requirements can be found on tauck.com on our Covid-19 Entry Requirements page.

What about a guest who has recovered from COVID-19 and receives a false positive result within 90 days of departure?

If you have had a positive COVID-19 test in the past 3 months, and are fully recovered, you may travel with documentation of your positive test result and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that states you have been cleared for travel.

Vaccinated Guests

Is Tauck planning to require that all guests be vaccinated before traveling on a tour or cruise?

At this time, there are no plans to require that all guests be vaccinated as a condition to travel with Tauck.  However, if you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to have a negative PCR test prior to departure for your trip, unless it is required by your destination.

Note, the CDC considers you “fully vaccinated” two weeks after a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Do Tauck guests who are fully vaccinated still have to take the Travel Well Pledge and Waiver of Liability for Covid-19?

Yes, all Tauck guests traveling will have to sign our Travel Well Pledge and COVID-19 Liability Waiver on the first day of their journey. When conditions allow, our travel requirements and health and safety policies will change accordingly.

Note, the CDC considers you “fully vaccinated” two weeks after a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Are vaccinated guests required to wear a face covering on tour?

Yes, according to the CDC, fully vaccinated people should continue taking precautions like wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces in public places.  Being vaccinated protects you from getting the virus, but it is still not known how the vaccines affect the spread of the virus.

Note, the CDC considers you "fully vaccinated" two weeks after a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

During Your Travels

Are Tauck Directors required to have a negative COVID-19 test prior to each tour they lead? What happens if they work tours back-to-back?

Tauck Directors will be required to have a negative PCR COVID-19 test within the 5 days leading up to the start of their tour series. They will follow the same Health & Safety protocols as the guests while on tour. If there is a gap between tours they lead, they will be tested again before their next tour.

Are Tauck Directors required to get a vaccine?

At this time, Tauck Directors are not required to be vaccinated. Being vaccinated protects you from getting the virus, but you may be able to transmit the virus to others. So, even with vaccination, Tauck Directors will continue to do pre-tour testing and don a face covering as required.

If there is a COVID-19 outbreak on a tour or ship, are vaccinated guests exempt from quarantine?

We cannot say exactly what will happen at this time since each situation is unique. We will follow the expertise and guidelines of the local health authorities where we are traveling.

Do guests on back-to-back Tauck trips have to be tested again?

Yes, even if you are coming from another Tauck trip, guests joining a new tour must receive a negative PCR Molecular test within 5 days of the new trip. Your Tauck Director will help arrange testing and Tauck will cover the cost of the test to join another trip.

Will Tauck assist guests and cover the cost of any testing that may be required for transiting between countries while on tour?

Yes, Tauck will arrange tests and cover the cost of this on-tour expense.

Will Tauck assist guests and cover the cost of the current CDC requirement of being tested before returning home to the USA?

Tauck will arrange testing prior to the last day of the tour. The cost of this test is not covered by Tauck. Arrangements will be made for guests to pay the vendor directly. Those staying longer in a destination after the tour has ended may need to arrange their own testing to meet return-home requirements.

If a guest shows symptoms of COVID-19 while on a tour, will they be required to take a test? What happens with the other guests? Will they have to quarantine?

We will follow our existing policy of taking care of the guest as we would any sick guest. Our staff, in conjunction with local authorities will work with the guest to determine if testing is required. We will follow the policies of local authorities regarding the testing of other guests, required quarantines, etc. Coverage for medical costs depends on the individual insurance of each guest as well as the regulations of the local government.
